Is a website designer right for you?

Starting a business can be crazy $$$ am I right?

Hiring someone to help feels a little over the top when you’re already shelling out the big bucks on filing fees and tech. I get it.

What if I were to tell you there are a few different ways to get that gorgeous site you’ve always dreamed of?

DIY, baby!

Do you love to get your hands dirty, do the work, and think through a project from A-Z. You may be a great person to DIY your own website. If you love the research and don’t mind working through the tough parts it is a great option to consider.

Keep in mind that DIY can be tough! Don’t get discouraged if you feel a little stuck. Take a breather and head back to it tomorrow.

Budget: definitely the cheapest of the bunch. Consider subscription fees or hosting fees for your website builder, and your domain.

Website templates

These are a great middle-ground. They give you the ability to have a designer eye, a layout with strategy, and guidance along the way. Most templates come with a step-by-step tutorial. But, sometimes it’s tough to think that your website design isn’t 100% yours. Anyone else could purchase that template and have a similar looking site.

Budget: DIY fees listed above + template purchase (Ranging from $250-$500 from what I’ve seen).

Custom website design

Bring in a pro and get the one-of-a-kind site of your dreams.

Having a custom website is great, you can tailor the design to your brand, the strategy to your needs, and have someone add-in integration or functionality you’d need to make sure it all works for your specific situation. Of course, this is the most costly option as well.

Budget: DIY Costs listed above + Designer fees (these can range from about $1,000 to $5,000 and sometimes up to $10,000 depending on the scope of the project and your designer’s experience level).
