Benefits of hiring a website designer

Did someone ask about the benefits of hiring a website designer?!

No? Oh, maybe I just hoped you did. Anyway, humor me for a second and let’s dive down this rabbit hole together.

The first thing I need to know is: are you having fun with your website? Are you loving the process and not at all frustrated? If you answered yes, cool, maybe this post isn’t for you.

If you answered no, well, I have to tell you something that you don’t want to hear.

Designing a website is more than figuring out which editor to use.

Website designers spend years honing their skills

That means from the way your website is organized to the way it appears on the screen, to the words that we choose for your buttons, there’s thought, skill, and strategy behind every minute decision.

Because websites are about what you see on the screen, but in a lot of ways, they’re about what you don’t see as well. And a website designer will inherently know the strategic choices that you may not even know to consider in a DIY website scenario.

We get excited about it. We live and breathe this stuff!

Designers save you time (and money)

Yes, this is a big decision and a big investment. I’m not pretending that it isn’t. But when you consider the value of your time and your expertise doing the thing that you love compared with the hours you’ll spend figuring out the ins and outs of your website, it’s a no-brainer.

Instead of rage-clicking your mouse on everything that looks like a button, your website designer is able to pop into your site and navigate with ease to quickly build, create, or update the thing that may have taken you hours.

We think about things that you may not

And that’s ok, that’s what you pay us for!

Here’s an example: after learning about my client’s business the number one question that I have is “how does someone start the process of working with you”. Thinking through the back-end process of your website is our second nature. Make sure that you have the technology in place to support your website and your business in the way that works best for you!

It’s easier for designers to cut the clutter

I say this lovingly because I know every aspect of your business, your brand, and yourself as a human is important to you! But sometimes we (myself included if you saw my website just yesterday) want to include way too many options for your readers.

A website designer is your partner in design but also in keeping your website easy to navigate and making sure your reader comes first. Sometimes that means suggesting the tough choice of editing which information appears where so that your site is set up for a great user experience that helps readers buy from you.

It's tough to design something that you’re so close to.

I don’t know a copywriter or a designer of any kind that doesn’t struggle with this! Designing for your own website is tough! You’re so close to it, every decision you make feels amplified, and tough to make. Bringing in a pro who is on the outside will help you sort through your wants, needs, and preferences and it will also help you to identify the trends through what you’re saying and identifying what you like!

Honestly, I could keep going about the benefits of hiring a website designer

I heard a sound on Tiktok the other day (if you listen to the pod then you know I’m obsessed) that said *“when someone makes something look simple, it’s because they put a lot of hard work into making it look that way”. And that’s how I feel about website design, but honestly working with premium service providers in any area. It may seem simple, but the work that goes into that simplicity is something that you just don’t see or think about until you’re in it.

If having a second brain, one that is full of website design knowledge and strategy, and one that makes something that can be frustrating actually seem fun is a priority to you in your website journey, I’d love to chat.

Grab a time on my calendar for a no-strings-attached call and we can figure out if hiring a website designer is the best move for you!
